Devbagh Beach:

Devbagh beach is approx. 16 Km from Malvan. By far it’s the best place in Malvan because of its awesome beach, very clear water, walkable distance to attractions. The drive from villages, riversides & plenty of trees is one of the rare experiences you would want to experience here. Photo enthusiasts will have special time here, as there are so many pics to be clicked.

Tarkarli Beach:

Tarkarli is the second most famous beach in the vicinity it is 4 or 5 km before Devbagh, one can halt at Tarkarli for a day and then proceed ahead. But other than long coastline along the beach you have nothing else to see around there.

Sindhudurg fort:

his fort was built by Shivaji (ruler of Maharastra), this fort is located in the sea and can be reached by ferry. Shivaji was known to build such forts in the middle of nowhere to stay safe. His landmarks are all over Maharashtra, a rare piece of engineering & a great place to visit.

Malvani Food:

Malvani food is very famous in Maharashtra & there is no best place other than Malvan to enjoy this cuisine. The spices they use to prepare food are mouthwatering & a must have. So, don't miss the opportunity to try Malvani food.

Scuba Diving Malvan:

Sindhudurg is also a spot for scuba diving, there are numbers of operators queuing up for scuba diving. There are many boats hovering around the spot. Because of which the water is muddy & not calm. If you want to perform this activity, spare 3 to 4 hrs in peak season. The best time to do scuba diving is early morning hours when there is no rush & less crowd.

Bon Fire:

Beach demands a bonfire, the sound of water from the shore, slow breezes & dropping the temperature. The only thing required to keep you warm is a bonfire. Lit a bonfire on the beach & enjoy lovely evenings with your friends.

Budget For Malvan:

Accommodation:

Accommodation is very cheap during offseason; finding a place is easy, but if you going in a peak season try to book accommodation prior as there are limited houses and charges will be high. Try talking to local people for help, they will help you to find a place in the budget. The average cost of accommodation varies from Rs 400 – Rs 2000 per day for a room (Varies with location, season & availability)

Malvani Food:

Most of the time house owner will prepare food, choices are limited but food quality and quantity are good and rates are reasonable as well. Malvani food is very unique & tasty. Homemade malvani food is one of the best things to do while in Malvan.

Alcohol:

Even though it is 90 km from goa alcohol cost is pretty much the same as Mumbai or Pune. There are not many shops available so pack yourself before going. Shops are usually closed in the afternoon so try to get your stuff before afternoon or in the evening.

A budget of INR 4000 - 5000 for 2 days trip should be enough. This cost doesn't include scuba diving cost whose price varies with the season.

Money Saving Tips:

Renting A Bike: Having a vehicle can help you in finding suitable accommodation & will also help in exploring the place. The cost of two-wheeler vehicle may vary from Rs350 – Rs 400 per day, night charges are extra. Make sure you ask for petrol, as the only petrol pump is around 13 – 15 Km from Tarkarli.

Avoid Liquor: Liquor is not cheap so having it in limited quantity will keep your budget in check.

Bargain For Rent: As most people will start with a high price try to bargain with them for better rent price. But don’t miss an opportunity by staying away from the beach. Nothing can beat the sea face room & breeze.

Go In Off Season: Best season to visit Malvan is from Oct – Feb, but the cost escalates if you intend to travel during long weekends. So, if you can avoid such instances, you can complete the trip in the budget.

Is Malvan Worth A Vist?

Coconut trees, clean beach, clear water, no tourists, old homes, no pollution. What else is required to visit a place? Of course, it is worth a visit. The beauty is raw & worthy enough to travel to. I would recommend traveling to this beautiful town.
