Bali Experiences

Tanah Lot Mark My Adventure
Tanah Lot Mark My Adventure
After visiting Bangkok & Pattaya . It was time for Bali. A place which mesmerizes you with its magnificent beauty. The moment plane lands on the strip of the airport (one of the best airstrip I have come across till now). The airstrip starts from the sea gives you some fairytale feeling. Bali is beautiful in every sense. Earlier, my plan was to go Jakarta & then Bali, but I chose to cancel that & headed straight towards Bali.

I reached my hostel in the night. It was a 4-bed dorm. Next morning I got up, rented a scooter & started my journey. On my first day, I chose to roam nearby attractions. Tanah Lot, a temple in the middle of the sea. The blue sea waves were hitting the temple rocks with full force. It was an amazing feeling to watch never-ending carpet of blue sea. It was one of those moments when you are awestruck with the beauty of that place. In the evening I decided to visit beach. I took a detour & luckily found one beach. That beach was known for surfing. This was my first time on a surfing beach. It was cloudy, hence was not able to watch the sunset but truly enjoyed the evening by surfing & diving.
Way to Sekumpul Mark My Adventure
Rice Fields Mark My Adventure
Waterfall attracts me a lot. The brutal force with which water falls on the rocks is spectacular to watch. On the second day, I took my scooter & started my journey to Sekumpul waterfall. It is the best waterfall in Bali for a reason. The water cuts through the jungle & falls on the plane surface. The green background gives it a picturesque view. This is not all, the route which one takes to reach this place is one of the best routes I came across. I wore my earphones & started driving across vast green landscapes, palm trees, rice fields , lakes & hills. It was an amazing ride. There are two waterfalls in the vicinity I reached around 3 pm it was cloudy & cold. I only had Tshirt & shorts & nothing more. First I chose to visit Air Terjun Munduk, a place that can be reached by making way through the jungle. It started raining so was not able to click pics. I was all drenched in water due to rain & was shivering. It was 5 o clock in the evening & thinking about what to do shall I go back to the hostel or go for Sekumpul. I took a decision to visit Sekumpul.

Still, 14 Km to drive , I started without giving it a second thought, I drove non stop & asked locals about the place, it was hard to converse but some how I managed to find the right way. It was all empty & getting dark & I was nervous about will I be able to make it till the end or not. The way to sekumpul was between jungles. After a drive of 45 mints. I finally reached the place. The water cutting through the trees & falling on a surface is magnificent to watch. I loved the moment, I was alone there I enjoyed it for few minutes. To my surprise, there was one more waterfall near by which I came to know through a shopkeeper. But, for that, I needed to cross a current of water & needed a guide. I gave it a try, I crossed the current & started walking. After walking for 15 min based on my intuition I reached the place where three parallel waterfalls. I was all drenched in water so a natural shower was just a formality , I went below the water fall & enjoyed my shower for some time. After that, it was a long ride back to my hostel. I relived the moment of watching waterfall till the time I reached hostel.

Ubud is one of the busiest region in Bali. It is a cultural hub of Bali. The architect, the market , the shops all will remind you about the Bali's culture. There are local shops, articrafts shops, flea market shops etc. It is a good place for shopping. Famous rice fields of Bali are located in this area. I personally didn't enjoyed it that much, but it is crowded with tourist. There is an entry fee at every checkpoint but for the person who has never seen rice fields,it is worth a visit. Ubud local market was much more fun, I will definitely recommend travelers to visit this region.

Bali is not all about culture , it has a place for partying also, Seminyak center is one of those places for the party. I loved Seminyak alot, it had a great vibe & also ample places to party. From shacks to proper pub & clubs it had everything. At one point of time it was so crowded that walking seemed to be a better option. This is also an expensive place to party, but if money is not your issue go have a blast here..
Bali has some of the tremendous mountains , one of such mountain is Mt Batur which was on the mind, but I didn't know that I need a guide to visit. So, I dropped the idea & went to Nusa Penida. Nusa Penida is a small island located at 40 Km from Bali. I went to Nusa Penida & Gilli for next 3 days. For my last day, I chose to visit Kuta, it is one of the popular beach of Bali. It is jam packed with tourists, I found a peaceful place & sat there for rest of the evening, I enjoyed the sunset & to my surprise my iPod started playing. "Jo Waqt aaye jaane kya dekhaye". (You never know what future holds for you)

I stayed in Denpasar for IDR 60,000 per day, it was not very good place but good enough to survive. I traveled by my rented scooter for which I paid IDR 60,000 per day, ate street food which cost around IDR 18,000 for a plate of noodles. In the end of the tour I was left with 1,00,000 IDR on my last day. Rather than staying at hostel , I chose the airport for the night & next morning I boarded flight back. Special thanks to Bali's people who helped me in every way possible.
Recently, I came across a wonderful post on things do in Bali. These are wonderfully collected more than 50 items which can be done in Bali. Here is the link to the same I hope this will help fellow tourists a lot. Things To Do In Bali.

Handy Resources:

Below are the few resources you should check before making an itinerary.

Agoda: Best place to book hotels of your liking. Agoda provides the best solution & great offer while booking a hotel.

Skyscanner: Skyscanner compares various sites & sort the flights based on the rates. A great way to check flight cost. Although the only drawback is that rates are flexible. Hence, the cost might change while you are making the payment.

Jetradar: Jetradar is a comparing site which is just like Skyscanner. But, is much more accurate & much more handy in use.

Booking: Best place to book hostel rooms. There are plenty of options available & with so many properties booking becomes much easier.

Couchsurfing: Best place to find free accommodation. It is as easy as filtering people & messaging. If you will get lucky you will find free accommodation in local resident house.

Travel Insurance: There are numerous options available to get one. So, you can choose anything which suits your requirement. Make sure you read the terms & conditions before buying one.
