Paris Travel Guide

Paris the most romantic & famous city in Europe. Fabulous architect & history makes this place a worth visit. I came to Paris from Amsterdam. Paris has a history attached to it & its worth a study. I spend only one day in Paris & tried to cover everything possible. Paris is also one of the costliest cities in the Europe because of its attractions.

When I say romantic it surely is. The place aura is full of romance. I haven't experienced anything like Paris. The mighty Eiffel tower & history has its own aura & charm which is very hard to be ignored. It is difficult to explain cities aura just in words. However, once you are in city it is completely different feeling & experience. Unlike most of the cities, this city lives upto the reputation.

How To Reach

Paris has an international airport located some 30 or 40 Min from Paris city. It is easy to find flights from all around the world to this place. There is direct metro line from Airport to Paris city thus there is no connectivity issues. You can look for the flights from the below search bar.
Buses:
There are number of buses running from various parts of EU to here. I chose bus over trains as I wanted to experience the landscapes. There are variousous websites which can be used while booking a bus. Some of them are Flexibus, Rail Europe etc. I used Flexibus for booking a seat from Amsterdam to Paris. It took me 6 hours to reach from Amsterdam to Paris.

Trains:
EU has a fantastic rail system. They are punctual & fast. It hardly takes few hours to cover distance between cities infact countries. Book in advance to avoid any last minute hassle, also take a print out of tickets before boarding the trains. You can check for time tables from GoEuro.
Bla Bla Cars: Bla Bla cars are famous among the European citizens for traveling purposes. It is easy to sign in with Facebook. Book your trips in advance. The prices are comparatively pretty lower than the buses & the trains.

Things To Do In Paris

Paris is prime example of 19th century architecture. There is lot to see in the city, deciding on what to do is important. I only spent one day in the city. Thus, it was difficult to cover all the points. However, I tried to cover whatever I could.

Louvre Museum: One of the most famous activities in Paris is to visit Louvre museum. The glass shaped pyramid is the view to look for. The fabulous work of architecture is hard to be ignored. It requires 4 to 5 hours to explore this place. There is entry charge of 15 Euros. I would recommend buying tickets beforehand to avoid long queues.

Notre Dame: There is so much history behind this place. The architecture & stories of love are all craved on the stones. The famous jupiter temple is here only. The craving of Jesus is all over the doors. This place is huge & much visited. The unique sculptures of Gargoyles are one of the unique points of this place. There is long line for the entry, so buy tickets beforehand. The entry charge is 10 Euros.

Arc The Triomphe: The monument is one of the most famous spots in the city. The facade of the tower is beautiful to watch. One can climb to the top after paying 8 Euros & enjoy the panoramic view of the city.

Eiffel Tower: The most famous impression of Paris is Eiffel tower. The mighty creature stands rock solid & is view to die for. The photos don't show the half of the beauty. With naked eyes the view is mesmerizing. With a ticket of 7 Euros one can climb upto the two stories by stairs (11 Euros by elevator) & if want to climb to the top expect to pay upto 17 Euros from the second floor. The view from the top is ultimate, but ensure you have ample time as the queues are never ending here.

History Tour: I would recommend trying history tours while in Paris. The place is much more than Eiffel Tower & Arc The Triomphe. There is so much history behind this place stories of war, stories of love & so more. I was able to explore few untouched places with the help of a local guide.

Sacre Coeur (Basilica): The classy location of this place makes it worth visiting. After climbing stairs whole of the Paris is visible. The location is fabulous for selfie time. No jokes around with the scene like that even an ordinary guy can become poet.

I spent just one day & explored all these places. I would recommend to stay atleast 3 to 4 days to completely inhale the spirit of the city. There is so much to see & experience. Each corner has its story & it is worth knowing. Click on below pic to know more about the topics.

Cost Involved:

Paris is costly city & expect to pay a lot while roaming around this beautiful city. Cost of everything is on higher side.

Stay: An average rate of dorm on the outer side of the city starts from 26 Euros. Expect this is the least you need to pay while staying in Paris. Prices of dorms near city center are pretty high. To keep the price low you can either try Air Bnb or couchsurfing. Couchsurfing is free but you need to be super lucky to get a host. AirBnB prices are similar to hostel dorm prices. I stayed in the cheapest hostel dorm, it was pretty far from the city & not had any worthy facilities. You can select the place from below link.

Commutation: Like every EU cities, the best way to roam around the city is through city cards. Paris has great metro, tram & train system. So, it is easy to reach places. Bus/tram ticket cost Euro 1.90 for an hour. I would highly recommend city card. It avoids hassel & also saves time of buying tickets. The card is extremely helpful while traveling.

Food: The best way to keep the price low is by buying food & alcohol from supermarket. There are many supermarkets & cost of things are reasonable. I would even recommend buying alcohol from these stores. This is a great way to keep the cost low.

Site Seeing: If you are looking to explore lots of museum, buy museum card it allows free entry to some of the museums. It helps to keep cost low & also allows you to skip the lines.

Even after taking all the required measurement expect to pay something around 50 Euros per day while staying here. However, if you cut down on few activities you can keep the cost marginally lower than this amount.

But, the value of money is nothing infront of the views you enjoy while on tour. Here is the glimpse of two of them.
